FAQ
-
What is pressure washing, and is it the same as power washing?
Pressure washing (or power washing) is the use of high-pressure water spray to remove dirt, stains, and other contaminants from surfaces. In practice, the terms “pressure washing” and “power washing” are often used interchangeably. The only minor difference is that “power washing” can imply the use of heated water. Grand Pressure Washing uses professional equipment (with both hot and cold water capability) to achieve the best clean for each situation. Essentially, they’re the same service for keeping your exterior surfaces clean.

What is soft washing and how is it different?
Soft washing is a cleaning method that uses low-pressure water combined with special cleaning solutions to safely clean surfaces that could be damaged by high pressure. Instead of relying on force, soft washing relies on the cleaning agents to do the work (loosening dirt, killing algae and mildew), followed by a gentle rinse. We use soft washing for things like roof cleaning and house siding, whereas we use standard pressure washing for tougher surfaces like concrete. Our team will choose the appropriate technique for each part of your property to ensure a thorough clean without damage.
-
Will pressure washing damage my siding or driveway?
No – when done by professionals, pressure washing is safe for your surfaces. Our technicians are trained to adjust the pressure and select the right nozzles for each material. We also utilize soft washing for delicate areas like shingles, painted wood, or vinyl siding. We take great care to avoid any damage. In fact, one reason to hire a professional like us (versus DIY) is to ensure the cleaning is done safely. We test and inspect surfaces when needed and use techniques that effectively clean without causing harm.
-
Are the cleaning solutions you use safe for my family, pets, and plants?
Absolutely. We prioritize safety and environmental responsibility. The detergents and cleaners we use are biodegradable and eco-friendly. They’re strong enough to remove grime and kill mold/mildew but break down harmlessly after use. We take precautions like wetting down your plants before and after applying solutions to ensure they are protected. Once the job is done, all you’re left with is a clean surface – no lingering harsh chemicals.

How do I get an estimate for your services?
Getting a quote is easy and free! You can call us, send us an email, or fill out the request form on our Contact Us page. All we need is a bit of information about what you’d like cleaned (house, roof, driveway, etc.) and your address. In many cases, we can use satellite imagery (Google Maps) to assess the size of the area and provide an estimate without even needing an on-site visit. For more complex projects, we might schedule a quick in-person visit. Either way, we provide transparent, upfront pricing. There’s no obligation – just let us know what you need, and we’ll get a quote to you fast, often the same day.
-
How much does pressure washing cost?
The cost of pressure washing depends on a few factors, like the size of the area to be cleaned, the type of surface, and how dirty it is. Because every job is a little different, we provide personalized estimates rather than one-size-fits-all pricing. Rest assured, our rates are competitive for the Pittsburgh area, and we’re happy to break down the quote for you. There are no hidden fees – the price we quote is the price you’ll pay. To get a detailed cost estimate for your specific needs, just reach out for a free quote.
-
What payment methods do you accept?
For your convenience, we accept multiple forms of payment. You can pay by cash or check, but many customers love the ease of our electronic and card options. We accept Zelle transfers for quick, secure payments directly from your bank. We also can take major credit and debit cards on-site (we have a mobile card reader). Of course, traditional methods like cash or check are fine too. We’ll provide a receipt for all services, and you only pay when the job is completed to your satisfaction.
-
Do I need to be home when you do the service?
Not necessarily. Many of our clients are busy – we can perform exterior cleaning even if you’re not home, as long as we have access to the areas that need to be cleaned. We do ask that you close all windows and doors, and put away any fragile outdoor decorations or furniture before we arrive (or let us know if you need help moving something heavy – we’re happy to assist). If you have pets, it’s a good idea to keep them inside for their safety while we work. We’ll communicate with you to arrange any details. After the service, we usually do a walkthrough (in person or via photos) to ensure you’re happy with the work. Payment can be handled remotely if needed. Of course, you’re always welcome to be present during the service as well, and we’ll gladly walk you through what we’re doing.
-
How long does a pressure washing appointment take?
The duration varies based on the scope of work. Small jobs like a single driveway or patio might be done in an hour or less. A full house wash typically takes a few hours. Larger projects (like cleaning a roof or multiple services in one visit) could take half a day or longer. When you schedule an appointment, we’ll give you an estimated timeframe. We always aim to work efficiently without sacrificing quality. And don’t worry – we won’t rush off until everything that we promised to do is completed and checked.
-
How often should I pressure wash my property?
It depends on the surface and your environment. As a general rule, most homes benefit from a house wash once a year or every two years. Roof washing is usually needed every few years, depending on how quickly algae returns (some homeowners do it every 2-3 years to prevent heavy buildup). Driveways and walkways might be cleaned annually or as needed when you notice stains and slipperiness. For commercial properties, high-traffic areas may need more frequent cleaning (even quarterly or monthly for heavy use zones, like restaurant sidewalks). During our visit or consultation, we can give you a recommendation tailored to your property and point out any areas that look like they’re due for cleaning.

Are you insured and do you guarantee your work?
Yes, absolutely. We are fully insured, which means you are protected in the unlikely event of any accidental damage. We take every precaution to avoid issues, but you can have peace of mind knowing we have proper coverage. Furthermore, we 100% guarantee our work – our goal is your complete satisfaction. If something isn’t cleaned to your expectations, let us know and we will fix it. Our reputation is built on happy customers, and we stand behind the quality of our service.
